I disagree with your conclusion that Hiarcs 9 is not better than Hiarcs 8 at blitz. So far I have only played 254 games using Hiarcs 9 at G/5min. Here are it's scores: Hiarcs 9 vs Fritz 8 56.5-63.5 (120 games) Hiarcs 9 vs Shredder 7.04 35.5-36.5 (72 games) Hiarcs 9 vs Chess Tiger 15 29.0-33.0 (62 games) These 254 games gives Hiarcs 9 a 43 point Elo advantage over Hiarcs 8 which has 2394 games in my database. Also since it has only played some of the top programs it's rating will probably increase more when playing lesser opponents (this is my experience in engine/engine matches). All games by Hiarcs 9 were played at G/5min on 2 XP2400+ machines using auto232 and default settings. I see Hiarcs 9 as a definite improvement over Hiarcs 8. Many more games are needed to know how much the improvement is. Jim
