I now have the full Rebel 10. Therefore I don't know much about Rebel 6. However, I have read much information on the Schroeder Rebel pages. For example, Ed's website indicates that Rebel 10 programming widened the search (became less selective), which contributed to its improved strength over Rebel 9. I suspect that versions after Rebel 6 may have improved the overall strength of the program, but weakened it (or slowed it) in certain other features. All programming is a tradeoff of speed, size, accuracy, selectiveness and other factors. In the growth of a better program, I believe some features are sacrificed (or lessened) so that other features are improved--in the attempt to provide a better balance of features that allow the program to play at improved overall strength. --Steve >Jeremiah > >>[Event "?"] >>[Site "?"] >>[Date "??.??.????"] >>[Round "?"] >>[White "Rebel6 P200pro G/30"] >>[Black "CM5555 P166mmx"] >>[Result "*"] >>[WhiteElo "?"] >>[BlackElo "?"] >>[ECO "C45"] >> >>1. e4 e5 2.
