Not because they don't want to, but because there seems to be a(nother) little twist to using The King outside Chessmaster. The engine itself starts up with a default value for Selective Search of 6, and then receives CM's default settings which include sel=9. In other words, without sending explicit settings (except for opk and tts) the engine stays with the old default sel=6, which translates to 1 in endgames. Since this position involves zugzwang, lower sel helps. BUT!, in most middle games the default sel=9 or eg SKR's sel=12 will be a bit or a lot better. ... Johan
