I can use playchess in Win XP without problem. Try to unistall Fritz deleting manually also some entries in the Registry, if you can, with Find feature, and re-install Fritz again. Shut and restart PC always. What I cannot do with Fritz 8 is the publish function. It shuts down Fritz when I use it. No reply from Chessbase. regards
