The ChessBase7 'Big' Database of 875,000 games, shows 15 games with the move 8...d6, between 1984 + '97, Starting with, Lorinczi,P (2205)- Borg,Geoffrey (2345), Thessaloniki Olm, [14] 0-1, 27, and DeVita,Gianni (2155)- Negrini,Claudia (2310), 0-1, 54. Most of the games contine with 9.f4 or 9.Nxc6. White won 10 (67%), drew 4 (23%), & Lost 4 (33%). No one seems to have picked up on this nice sacrificial idea! Curiously, the Junior5 module, in CB7, favours 9...Bxe3 from the start, and continues to so for its entire search. As far as I can tell, 9...Bh3 is not in its search here! It continues the position with 10.Nxc7 Rb8 11.fxe3 Qh6 12.Nb5 ...Be6 13.Bxe6 fxe6 14.Nxd6 Qxe3+ 15.Kh1 Rxf1+ 16.Qxf1 Rf8 17.Qc4 0:01:47, after 3 minutes... Does this make sence? mrslug - the inkompetent chess software addict!
