Are you sure that would be allowed Thorsten? I mean is a program entitled to know what opponent it has? In that case it would be easy to automate it for a program to choose an appropriate style before the game. For humans there is no question that it is allowed, and already the openingbooks are tuned to the opponents so why not the style? A program might also choose a different style as part of learning in a match, even a slightly weaker style might be known to do better in certain openings that the opponent program has played in the match, and this way counter some booklearning. Of course Ed would rather have a chip with eyes for Rebel... Eelco
