Uri, >How do you know that young talents was a big success? Frederic Friedel told me in London August 2000. This was approx 3 months after launch - he said they sold more than they had initially anticipated. I've no reason to doubt him. >I thought that it was a failure because chessbase did not release young >talents2 and most of the relevant programs became free programs. When it was released most of the programs were not free and some good ones are still not free (e.g. Ikarus which may have been the strongest of the bunch). It may be more difficult to do a Young Talents 2 since there are certainly more strong programs that can be easily used within Fritz as UCI engines - which was the attraction of the original YT. >I doubt if there are more than 100 people in the world who bought young talents. I disagree. Young Talents was an excellent selection of engines and I'm sure many people bought it back in 2000. Many people would want to buy it to have the native Chessbase version of the programs. If I had to guess I'd say you at least one order of magnitude out with your guess as to how many copies were sold. Regards, Steve
