Roy,

What type of Hard drives do you have? 10,000 to 15,000 RPM drives get very hot
and often require their own cooler devices. It might be a good idea to clean
your processor heatsink fins and fan with a jet of compressed air and to also do
the same to the power supply. Your idea to have throughput of air is valid.
I am not sure how you screwed up the fan but a polarity reversal on the rear
fans would do no harm. Maybe you could just mount the fan blades in reverse.

Why does anyone need four hard drives? Just get a couple of fast 180 GB
Barracuda-type drives with coolers.
