I vote for Winboard.
1. It is the best looking board in the universe. For playing on, not for
admiring the glint of shining chromium on some horrid 3-d knight's visor.
2. It has built in connection to on-line playing services.
3. It has a public interface specification, so any compatible engine can
connect.
4. Open systems mean that the most competitive tool wins, not the most hyped.
5. Another large market is possible through UNIX, since there is an Xboard
front end instantly available.
6. See "A Tribute to Winboard" for a bazillion more reasons.
7. I would like to see Tim Mann richly rewarded for the wonderful gift he has
given to chess playing.
8. It has additional utility in playing:
   A. Machine against machine
   B. Man against machine
   C. Machine against ICC or FICS foe
   D. Human against ICC or FICS foe
   E. Just step through games or annotate them

I absolutely *hate* the default 3-d board for CM5500. YETCH! The designers of
those wretched 3-d boards should be poleaxed, pummeled, pissed-on and pureed.
