Even if only 1/500 as powerful as deep blue, it would still knock the stuffings out of anything else. Imagine a .1 micron trace deep blue chip. Production lines are hitting .18, so they could probably produce a few .1 samples that work. Certainly, they could knock off chips that were the equivalent of those used in the contest. Which is not necessarily a good thing. I actually hope he holds off for a while, so we can learn how to improve the algorithms instead of looking to a hardware solution. If someone had invented a hardware insertion sorter, we might only now be learning about better ways to do it.
