I'm not sure how the contempt factor works but that one factor seems to make
Genius 7 play quite differently on most test problems. I have experimented with
quite a few settings and found the "Phoenix Genius" settings were quite strong
in engine engine matches against the default. At 10 sec/move the default was
blown away. I believe I have found the strongest settings so far which are the
same as Phoenix Genius except I left the selective search at 12 which is the
default. I set the Pawn value at 95 so there would be more of a tendency to
sacrifice a pawn for positional reasons. The active, solid and risky settings
seem to make no difference in play - at least in the testing I have conducted.
After 7 games against Chessmaster SKR (game/1 hour) Genius Cyborg leads by 4 to
3 with no draws. Chessmaster played White in all games. I believe I will be
able to have at least 40 games played in less than a month so it will be
interesting to see how the new settings work out. I've dubbed it "Genius
Cyborg." Notice the brilliant kingside attack against White in game 7.
