Nf3 Nc6 with depth 4, you'll search lines like 1. e4 NULL 2. NULL NULL 3. NULL e5 4. NULL NULL 5. Nf3 Nc6 with depth 10, but the end position is the same. It will always take a lot longer to see the same lines if you allow null move everywhere in the tree.
