Hello Aloisio,

It may be that Ruffian is just a better Blitz player. I know that Ed never was
very interested in Rebel playing fast blitz games. You could probably optimize
Rebel for very fast timecontrols, maybe by lowering some Chess Knowledge for
instance.

From your account it isn't very clear though if your Rebel gets in trouble with
the openings it plays, or if it loses on time. If you can show a few sample
games that might help.

About the time control, there you could build in that Rebel thinks it has a
little less time for the game than it actually has on the server, that is a
question of experimenting with the time settings and/or maybe some personality
settings. (See the versions of Thorsten's Macheides on how you can influence how
Rebel divides its time: http://f50.parsimony.net/forum200336/messages/569.htm
This does not give a possibilty to build in some reserve time though.
Unfortunately there is not yet much documentation on the latest personality
features that are possible)

But of course Rebel should not lose on time. I don't know if it is related but
when I looked in ChessPartner the chess clock registers more elapsed time than
Rebel does in its Search Info window. Things to consider includes possibly some
things like transmission times when playing on Internet and times for Rebel to
start up the calculations, but if Rebel thinks it has used less time than it
shows on the clock in ChessPartner -ChessPartner or the ICC, I don't know
exactly how it works as I don't play on ICC and such-, it might of course lose
on time that way.

Regards, Eelco
