Why should ratings exceed 3000? Since ELO rating lists (which one btw?) are relative and not absolute, the question "what ELO equals perfect play" is pretty useless. And I'm convinced that if all the GMs would play games against a perfect opponent all day long, they wouldn't even get half a point in 1000 years. Sargon
