Hi Kurt!
junior7 , of course : you saw some of them on "forum du fou numérique",
some others on unorthodox chess openings , or on my group:
"criticalchess@yahoogroups.com"
here is one more game , where junior sacrifies a piece in the opening
50'/100 moves imposed opening : florentine gambit ( E77/5 in my ECO 1975)
Gromit 3.1 / junior7
1 d4 Nf6 2 c4 g6 3 Nc3 Bg7 4 e4 d6 5 f4 O-O 6 Nf3 c5 7 d5 e6 8 Be2 exd 9 e5!?
(a move of Gunderam!)9...Nh5 ( a move that has a poor reputation , but it was
imposed in 5th round of a tournament , where each round is devoted to a
different black answer )
10 cxd5 Bh6 11 Ne4 Nxf4 12 g3 dxe5 13 gxf4 exf4 14 Qa4 Bf5 15 Nxc5 Qe7
16 Qb5 b6 17 Na4 Bd7 18 Qc4 Rc8 19 Qb3 Bh3 20 Rg1 Nd7 21 Bd2 Re8 22 Nc3 Nc5
23 Qc4 b5 24 Qxb5 Rab8 25 Qc4 Rb4 26 d6 Qxd6 27 Qd5 Nd3+ 28 Kd1 Nxb2+
29 Ke1 Qc7 30 Bb5 Rc8 31 a3 Be6 32 Qc6 Nd3+ 33 Kc2 Rb2+ 34 Kxd3 Bf5+
35 Ne4 Bxe4+ 36 Kxe4 Qe7+ 37 Kd3 Rxc6 38 Bxc6 Qd6+ 39 Ke2 Qxc6 0-1
it's the second time i see junior7 sacrify a piece in the opening
"out of book" without counting a game where it "invents" the Dilworth
variation, and plays it with a "knowledge" of the finesses of this difficult
line
the other case was a king's gambit :
1 e4 e5 2 f4 exf 3 Nf3 d6 4 d4 g5 5 h4 g4 6 Bxf4!?
you can find the whole game on critcalchess@yahoogroups.com
these 2 sacrifices are quite speculative ; I know no other example of
speculative sacrifices by engines
as far I know junior7 is unique among the engines for this point
and I still wait another engine which play games of this style
Friendly Yours
