Subject: Surely all programmers intend to be top, but don't succeed!

This makes it a real commodity to supercede all earlier programs in rating
points etc.
I'm sure that Junior and Hiarcs and Fritz and Tiger etc. desperately intended to
be the leader in the rating lists, but Shredder 7.04 is still slightly ahead,
even of its more recent rivals.
True, the top programs are often beating Shredder in singal games, but so would
programs of 2-3 years ago do that sometimes.

Anyway, to be ballanced, I still give credit of up to 50 elo points for greater
daring in playing style, so if a program is REALLY daring and shows great
judgement but falls 25 elo behind Shredder 7.04, I would still consider that
daring program as about 25 elo points ABOVE Shredder 7.04, because
adventurousness makes it harder to gain elo points, but potentially it is worth
more, e.g. if on very long time controls.

Still, I wanted to comment that I'm not sure that junior 8 or Hiarcs 9 have
surpassed Shredder 7.04?
HAVE they (perhaps in adventurousness)?
