Dirk sent me an email, the contents of which he holds the copyright to and can reproduce if he wishes. I don't care to attempt to summarize it. I didn't respond to this email immediately, and in response to a second email, in which he asks me if I received the first email, I sent the message that I append to the end of this post (with one reference edited). The *email* (not post) that follows is the only recent correspondence from myself to Dirk. I am guilty of the crime of disagreeing with the members of the founder's group, and expressing this disagreement in a public forum, in response to a recent post by one of the founders, in which he used this old stuff to attack someone, which caused me to take offense. It is not like I bring this old stuff up every day for fun, but if I see someone using it as an excuse to attack someone unfairly, I feel free to respond, so I did. And for whatever reason I find myself under attack for doing so. This whole spate of resignations by members of the founder's group is an attempt to get me in trouble with my fellow moderators, with Steve, and with the members of CCC, for holding an opinion contrary to theirs, and for daring to express it in an open forum. If this makes me a rotten apple, I am rotten to the core. bruce ----------------------- From: Bruce Moreland[SMTP:brucemo@seanet.com] Sent: Wednesday, November 04, 1998 9:35 AM To: 'DFrickenschmidt@w-i-s.net' Subject: RE: Letter arrived? I got it. I didn't answer it yet because I have another thread on this topic going with Moritz, Amir, and Don at the same time. Bottom line is that I don't accept your logic regarding Chris' departure from CCC, nor have I ever. The whole thing was just a contrivance to get rid of Chris for whatever reason. I have a problem with that, but it's not actually a huge problem, the guy is <unkind reference to Chris deleted>. But why not just admit that you banned him? Look, when someone says, "I don't want to be a member of CCC anymore, please delete my password," they are not saying "ban me", they are saying, "I don't want the temptation of actually using my password to read posts." This action is reversible, it's like unsubscribing to a newsgroup. Your decision to use this pretense to ban the guy is indefensible. Regarding my failure to ask moderators what went on, I spoke to Bob on the phone about this several times. I also think it is perfectly logical for me to assume that this wasn't a moderator decision but rather a decision by the whole founder's group, since there was a post from Ed, who was never a moderator, explaining that Chris is not welcome in CCC. The first name on the list of signatures at the bottom was Moritz. bruce
