Well I think it runs as a thread so they could have set it to 'low'. Now it
probably running as 'below normal' like engines but because it is in a
foreground process it gets higher priority than an external engine.

Without studying this I would think that it is better to keep the priority like
it is to not get unpredictable reading, could be too slow when running with a
lower priority than an engine.

Instead the reading could be idle sometimes, ex. if it use ReadFile for the
com-port you can higher the inputtimeout so it hang there some milliseconds.

But someone mention last time that it didn't take up resources when the
dgt-board was connected via an usb-adapter (usb-rs232) so maybe it is something
else, or the default timeout is higher on these devices.
