About the only thing that will cause this is excessive paging.  Either you are
running other applications that are using most of your real RAM, requiring that
they be swapped out, or else somehow you have told crafty to use too much RAM
(although the above hash/hashp/cache sizes look fine).

My crafty 19.4, on my 750mhz laptop with a slow eide disk, starts very
quickly and I have all 3/4/5 piece files on this machine as you do...
