Oxford-Softworks was sold to Purple who renamed CSTal II as "Chess Champion." However, if you visit Purple's website, no mention is made of "Chess Champion." Purple does offer a chess CD-ROM called "Chess" which appears to be CSTal II but with an *extremely* minimal GUI. Price: 4.50 British pounds. It is also Win XP compatible. .......Then I ran a Google search for "Chess Champion." Lo and behold, it's available through http://www.mindscape.co.uk....complete with the Purple Software label. I didn't get a price..BUT it's only compatible with Win 95/98/ME/2000. Then....I went to Global Star Software's site, the makers of my "10 Pro Board Games" which contains a minimal GUI CSTal II. Voila! They sell something called "Tournament Chess" which looks suspiciously like CSTal II. I emailed them and they quickly responded with a "Yes! This is CSTal II with the original maximal GUI and it is Win XP compatible." Price: $20 plus tax and shipping...$30. I have ordered "Tournament Chess" and will let you know how I like it. warm regards, Mike in California
