i wholeheartedly agree!
i have said many times on these pages that playing chess while squinting at a
computer screen and clicking around with a mouse is not real chess
i dont care how strong a PC program is,not having a normal board with pieces is
just not chess
of course the Excalibur GM would not be my first choice for a dedicated
computer(playing strenght..1800 Elo tops..cannot turn ofF sounds..must turn the
board around to play with the black pieces ,severly limited opening
book,etc.etc.)it still beats playing on a computer screen

in addition, i really do believe a computer screen can have a negative impact on
 your chess ability
i liken it to playing BasketBall on a bent rim
once you learn to adjust for the unuusal angle, your shot will be way off the
mark on a normal rim
