Hi Jorge,

- Did you include 'variant frc' in the baron.ini file? If not, Baron will write
'e1c1' to Arena, meaning that Arena does not recognize the castling move. This
is supposed not to be necessary in the latest Arena beta's, but I haven't tested
that yet.
- Are you using FRC Baron 1.0.3? In FRC Baron 1.0.3 you should see O-O-O, and
not e1c1 when correctly configured. In FRC Baron 1.0.2 (and earlier) Baron would
write e1c1, but still castle correctly (writing O-O-O to Arena, so Baron should
still respond).
- Are you using Arena? If not, is the GUI you use FRC aware?

If all of the above is true, I'll have to look further.

I know it would be more intuitive to have 'variant frc' as default option in an
'FRC' Baron. However, there are two reasons not to do that:

- The winboard protocol assumes that a new game is a standard chess game unless
the GUI sends the command 'variant <variant name>' to the engine. Making frc the
default type of game violates the winboard protocol on this point. Arena does
not send this command in the versions I've tested so far so that's why I added
this configuration parameter. I didn't check the beta's from the ASA pages yet.
- In the future 'FRC' Baron will get a different name, to indicate it can play
multiple variants, which is currently limited to FRC and normal chess. It gets
more 'fun' options as well (currently only FRC Baron has 'patzer' mode, see
documentation for details).

The variant 'threechecks' will be included in the next release of 'FRC' Baron. I
really should think of a different name now. Suggestions anyone?

Richard.
