the difference between 40/40 and 40/120 is not so big.

Your results also did not convince me that Ruffian is better than Fritz8
or shredder7(I see no significant difference between the results of Ruffian and
Fritz and shredder).

I know that Ruffian earns more from time relative to free engines.
I do not know if the same happen relative to commercial engines.

I know that you use the same book.
Maybe you can try the following test for Ruffian that was suggested in the past
by vincent when I claimed that Ruffian is not better than Fritz8:

1)Give Ruffian to play a match against Fritz when you use Shredder's book for
both engines.
2)For every opening use the same opening with opposite colors(my suggestion).
3)use long time control.

Vincent believes that Ruffian is going to win at long time control.

I am interested to know the facts both for blitz and for long time control but I
have no computer time to devote for that task.

It may be also interesting to repeat the experiment for shredder when both sides
use Fritz's book.
