Here's an interesting position for engine eval testing: [D]3r1brk/pp3p1p/8/2pP1P2/2Pn4/6nP/PP4B1/R2Q1RK1 w - - 0 26 You will get all kinds of eval scores with this. The game is from an article in this month's En Passant by IM Sokolov. Black has tremendous compensation on the black squares for his huge material defecit (2Ns vs Q+P, roughly -4). Superb idea by Gligoric. IM Sokolov suggests White is in serious trouble and that Black doesn't necessarily have to grab material back, but can simply maitain pressure and slowly build threats. Horrible position for White to be in as a human or machine. In the game, White blundered too much material away with 28.Raf1? and soon succumbed. It would be interesting to see what different engines see and conclude about the above position. Will the score consistently drop over time? Could White have held?
