Ars Technica has a short writeup. The short of it is that the CS does not have any integer units except in the front end controller unit. And those are for address calculation and their like. The functional units of the CS are controlled by the front end controller unit. Making it a vector processor. One FMAC and on FP unit per functional unit. And while the internal FP bandwidth is good, the external bandwidth will kill any advantage from using it piecemeal. MvH Dan Andersson
