The good news is that you probably also have the Nov 2002 CD version of Shredder 7 (check the Help menu), and if so, that problem with big RAM was fixed in subsequent updates. The first update was released in March 2003 and another update this month in October 2003. The March 2003 update fixed that big RAM problem and several other bugs, and it works fine on my Windows XP Home system. Unfortunately it is no longer available for public download, insofar as I know. I would be willing to provide a copy if nobody objects; send me an email. The bad news is that the last update from Oct 2003 introduced at least one new serious bug... Infinite Analysis mode will automatically stop at random times, sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes after an hour or more. It's unpredictable. There's no word about a fix and I wouldn't hold my breath. Nevertheless if you want to give it a try... You can get the Oct 2003 update by registering for an account at the Playchess.com server, login, then enter your product code. WP
