I had the same problem. I bought Shredder 7 in July and had no idea that an update was available. The vendor didn't tell me. Nobody told me. I had to discover it by accident. I went to the playchess.com server religiously every week or so, but they said no update was available. Then, I found out that you must register an account there, login, and enter your product code in order for them to tell you the truth. So I finally got the update 2 months after I bought the CD. They won't tell anything truthful to Guests anymore at Playchess.com. They're not to be trusted anymore.
