David, Consider that the Dell Axim is only using 2 watts of energy vs 70-100 watts for the AMD 2600 processor and that the Athlon is over six times the clock speed. I would say that for $200 to $300 USD for the Axim vs $1800 USD for the PC plus monitor the most bang for the buck goes to Pocket Fritz 2 on the Axim x5. energy use factor = 100/2 = 50 clock speed factor= 400/2600= 1/6.5 price factor=1800/200=9 estimated ELO ratio= 2500/2580 Multiplying these in series we get a "bang for the buck" of roughly 67 times that of the bigger machine. If you throw in a weight ratio of 100 then it becomes ridiculous. Did you ever think ten years ago that you would be getting a little machine that is a strong master and fits in your pocket?
