Sorry for the off topic post, but seeing how hardware is crucial for performance I thought here would be a good place to ask. I have an onboard ATA100 controller. I also have a Promise ATA100 controller card. Would switching to the actual card give me anything of a performance gain? I have heard mixed results regarding this. Some say no none at all. Others say that I would relieve any strain on my mobo from the onboard ata100 and thus see a speed and access improvement. Does anyone know?
