Another big powersaving maneuver is to turn off backlight or at least turn down to very dim. This would help unless you need to see the board at all times (i.e. 'you' are playing). The screen lighting/backlighting is one of the biggest drains on battery life. I have found that the website pocketpcthoughts.com is a must if you are a first time pocket PC buyer. Very helpful site with some good message boards with helpful people.
