Mike, you have the right to test the way you prefer it of course.
I do not think that this test is serious however.
That is not meant as a personal attack.
IMO in a serious test both engines should be tested with the best possible
settings according to the programmers.
First of all tournament book setting is not the best setting for PF2.
'Best Move' setting is.
Sounds strange, but at tournament setting my PF2 with own book plays also
1...Nf6,1...c6 and 1...e6.
Those moves are not played with 'Best Move' option (only 1...c5 and 1...e5) and
the Shredder7.bkt book also does not play these moves at tournament setting.
The opening choice 3...g6 is very bad for almost any computer program.
I just checked what Genius 6 would play in the position after 4.c3. It would
play 4...Nf6? at a similar time control. A very bad move IMO and also not theory
of course.
Probably both PPC programs can not handle the position with black at all.
AFAIK PF2 is Shredder 7 (almost), therefore it should IMO play either with its
own book or with the imported Shredder7.bkt book.
