Earl, If Microsoft has an OS for the 64bit system I am sure that it will crash too. Terabytes of RAM are useful for massive EGTBs but little else. With ten pieces on the board on each side in a typical middlegame I am not sure if these memory enhancements would make much difference in chess. Sixty four bit and above computing may be useful in celestial mechanics and nuclear weapon design, where high precision calculations are needed, but not in chess. It is, nevertheless, quite interesting to have big iron on our desktops.
