Very few designers get to work on these kinds of general purpose high performance designs. That doesn't mean those who do not are not capable. They merely lack the experience. And most engineers do not work on the whole of the processor design anyway. And the final physical layout is determined by computer aided design. So it is possible to claim no one person understands the design. But the system design can be understood in its whole. And performance of an application can be enhanced by this understanding. And that I guess is GCPs point. MvH Dan Andersson
