I looked at Fritz8.ctg and there are a lot of lines. Maybe it is lost but in order to be convinced about it I need to see some tree that convince yace to learn a score of +2.xx for white and I was convinced that if it can be done it is a task of many hours. 18...Nd7 is only one option. If I look at the scores of Fritz with 5 options I find more alternatives for black. You can see that Fritz8 does not see a winning score for other moves after some minutes at depth 13 and move 18 is not the only case when white has many alternatives. Rebel - IsiChess MMX r1b1kb1r/2q2p1p/p2p1P2/2nP4/1p1N4/5Q2/PPP4P/2KR1BR1 b kq - 0 1 Analysis by Fritz 8: 1. µ (-1.09): 18...Nd7 19.Qh5 Ne5 20.Ne6 Qa5 21.Kb1 Bb7 22.Bg2 Rc8 23.Nxf8 2. ³ (-0.47): 18...Bb7 19.Qe3+ Kd8 20.Nc6+ Bxc6 21.dxc6 Qb6 22.Bc4 Ra7 23.Bd5 Nd7 24.Qg5 3. = (-0.06): 18...Bd7 19.Rg7 Kd8 20.Rxf7 Bh6+ 21.Kb1 Bg4 22.Nc6+ Ke8 23.Rxc7 4. = (0.22): 18...Bh6+ 19.Kb1 Nd7 20.Qh5 Bf8 21.Ne6 Qa7 22.Ng7+ Kd8 23.Qxf7 Nc5 5. ² (0.37): 18...Qb6 19.Re1+ Kd8 20.Rg7 Nd7 21.Nc6+ Kc7 22.Rxf7 Bh6+ 23.Kb1 Rf8 24.Ree7 (Blass, Tel-Aviv 20.10.2003) >You can check all the lines in the Rebel, Tiger or even Fritz books. It is all >there. The fact that the lines in Fritz book lead to win for white is not something convincing without doubt that white wins but only suggest that white probably win and it is different. I guess that you have no time to check that every case that white probably wins is a real win and it is better to have more lines in book and not prove that every alternative is bad for black when you get the impression that every alternative is bad but saying that it is a clear loss instead of saying that it is probably losing is wrong.
