Fritz 7 is probably not weaker than Fritz 8. Maybe a few points.
Are your other weak programs Shredder 7.04,Junior 8 and Hiarcs 9? :)

It is probably a good idea to wait a few months and get Shredder 8.

For Chessbase (No UCI)I would recommend two different programs for interactive
Analysis:

1. Shredder or Junior
2. Hiarcs or Fritz or Chesstiger

If you want to search a position for hours Hiarcs or Fritz.
