In this draw-ish "made-up" position, white decide to play a strange 1.Bd1 that
no engine seems to like.

[d]3k4/5p2/3r3p/5p1b/B1p5/P6P/6P1/2K2R2 w - - 0 1

Again, many engines I've tried will definitely take that bishop, giving a line
starting with 1...., Bxd1 2.Rxd1 and, in general, a negative score for white
close to a draw.

Then, after 2.Rxd1 most engines seem to try to avoid the rook exchange by moving
Kc7 or Ke7. White takes the rook anyway

We're in a similar position again:

[d]8/5p2/3k3p/5p2/2p5/P6P/6P1/2K5 w - - 0 4

But this position is not the root one, but at PLY 6.

Of course, there are options such as 1....,Bg6 that would probably lead to draw
(my guess). The problem is that few engines would choose that option after some
thinking.

Does your engine try that 1.Bd1?
After forcing that move,
Does your engine choose that 1....,Bg6?
Because taking the bishop seems to be the end for black.

Cheers,

 Jaime
