sorry for posting the wry and ironic "if... if", but I couldn't help doing it.
You know better than I that Jeroen Noomen does a fantastic job of preparing
opening lines that may pulverise the opponent.  Thus it is very dangerous to use
the most frequently played lines against a Noomen book.  The aim was to use an
older, almost forgotten, line and then when both programs are on their own, let
them duke it out under equal conditions.  I am happy that we managed to do this
-- exclusively thanks to Perola's magnificent program which most people
experience only as a fast searcher.  It will become obvious that Ruffian is
above all a very good positional player...

As for the Arena / Ruffian commercial project, you may have prompted a good and
logical move :-).  Thanks for your comments and reply.
