Why do you mind that Gnuchess was entered instead of letting the programmers having a bye. At least some of the participants had to sweat a little to beat this program. Point is: The choice is between entering a weak program and having a bye. As a participant I rather play a weak program, than getting a bye. Any (non participant) complaining about that should register himself to make the number of participants even instead. Richard.
