Yes it might be construed as a surprise in that way. But the variation is or rather was pretty topical a few years ago. And it is considered the best move in after 1. d4 d6 2. c4 due to the fact that 2... e5 3. dxe5 dxe5 4. Qxd8 offers better prospects for black. Thus it isn't as surprising as a kings gambit. I looked over the game and you chose another setup than the one I used to play. Nowardays I play the Grunfeldt. It would be nice to see computers play that opening well. MvH Dan Andersson
