Well, you remember correctly about the KRPKBP database.  In the note
I saw, The white pawn was on a2 and a rook against a black bishop and
pawn on a3.  There is the article by van den Herik, Herschberg and
Nakad in the ICCA Journal, Vol 10 No 4.  A maximum position is identified
as WKb8, WRg5, WP a2; BKb6, BBe3, BPa3 WTM with 54 moves to conversion.

This article does not discuss the possibility of moving the pawn
ram to other squares.  As for can it come up in a real game, the
article quotes one game (Timman - Velimirovic, 1979).  Whether
others have occurred since I have no idea.

Anyway, go for it Bruce.  As far as I know, all the other 6 piece
pawn ram databases have yet to be done.  Maybe you will find
something interesting?
