Crafty was the first, I believe.  I generally do the testing for Eugene
when he modifies this stuff, for obvious reasons, since I always have _all_
currently released tables handy.

I think the multi-part format was done a fair while back.  There have been
more recent changes in the probe code beyond that I believe.
