Go up one level in this thread
Eriq, >this sounds fair :) I disagree - in English we say, "there's no such thing as a free lunch"! If a programmer spends time developing their program for a new platform then they should expect to get something for their efforts (assuming it's a decent product). To assume that a programmer will do it for free does *NOT* seem fair to me! If it's bundled with the PC program then effectively all user are pay for the program - even the ones without a PPC / Palm - that does not seem fair to me! The computer chess industry has shrunk from the Golden years of the late 80s and early 90s - yet the level of interest has (or at least seems to have) increased. As computer chess enthusiasts we need to realize that if there are going to be professional chess programmers in the future then we should expect to pay a decent amount for the best programs ... and not complain about it. Anyway I acknowledge your smiley so I assume the comment was not that serious. Regards, Steve
