I suppose if it really begins to bother me, I could just close some other programs while I'm playing chess, but the "slow down" I'm noticing doesn't seem to be such a big deal...and the computer has never crashed. Now that I've heard of multiple processors and such, I will, out of sheer curiosity at least, be happy to learn more about how this approach enhances the performance of the chess programs and/or other concurrently running programs. The guy who built my computer did say that he built it in such a way that its various bits can be easily upgraded (including up to three-something GBs of RAM!), so over time, I may have him fiddle with it some more. Thanks! Melissa
