Uh, why wouldn't he? Moreover, it's a free update for Shredder 7 that was
done by Stefan himself.

You are wrong. There was a big complaint about Gromit, with a big complaint
from Alex Kure, and the SSDF agreed it should not be done again. And now
they're breaking that promise.

You are wrong. Most users do use the defaults. But I wouldn't mind the SSDF
testing an engine with tweaked settings. I do seriously object to an engine
being tested when it actually consists of _two_ commercial packages.
