Johan suggested that the SKR settings be used, so why shouldn't they? The
author reccomends(sp?) them. Do a CCC search on "Johan De Koning" its under one
of those threads. He hasn't posted much.

I didn't know about Gromit. I don't understand why Alexander would have a say
(he is a good book maker) because they own the program. Even if it was given to
them. Its SSDF's call not Alexanders. They aren't paid to test, its only for
fun. They should be able to use any book they want.

Everyday or so a thread pops up in this forum asking where they can get the SKR
settings for chessmaster. The only testers I know of that use the defaults are
Sarah and Leo. Others such as Surak, Sedat, Kurt & Rolf use those settings, as
well as many other people who run single tournaments (as well as myself)

As far as two commercial packages is concerned, it is speculated (you even
posted yourself) that UCI engines are seriously hampered when run under
Chessbase GUI, something about hash IIRC. It won't be playing at full strength.

Besides what does it matter what GUI it is tested under, as long as it gets
tested? I don't understand how it is a conflict of interest, maybe I am naive
but it might just up the sales of both programs, who knows?
