General means characteristic in common for all. The characteristic being
unmodified except for minor parameters as explained previously.

AFAIK Shredder 7.04 was an update available to all, ie. not exclusive and not a
modification of settings. An engine replacement, not engine tampering, in other
words.

"Box" shouldn't be taken literally. It could be a bag or a company website ;-).

I have no idea if it's fair or not. The King with general.ctg isn't a product.
Chessmaster 9000 is. However, it doesn't come with the book general.ctg or with
SKR as default or recommended settings.

The correct setup would be The King (default), CM book and CM endgame tables.
How isn't that important.
