They did this, and I am happy with it (with the testing procedure, not with the results :-( ). Actually, I do have no big desire to be involved in this thread. I just wanted to point out a factual error of Joachim. I have never tested my engine with any commercial book, and I am not interested in it at all. I use some passive learning (just try to avoid lines, that where lost). I would not be interested in more aggressive learning at all (also, I have no idea, if the typical CB interface will do it or not). I know, that at least some versions of Gandalf do it. I looked at all games, Tony posted here when he was testing Yace for the SSDF. I did not see any indication, that learning would have influenced the result. Regards, Dieter
