It seems to me that the selective part of Genius' search is some sort of very wide and sophisticated qsearch, containing much more than just captures, checks and promotions. Lang probably thinks that "capture search" is not a very accurate description of his selective search. When he writes that he relies on a static swap off routine, he is probably talking about what happens at the end of the selective search. When the position is not quiescent after 12 selective plies, he uses an SEE. Tord
