I can only answer for myself. While you don't need a very high quality random number generator for for example hashing it still feels a bit icky. Using a library PRNG would be OK if I had the source and could compile it myself with no or absolutely safe optimizations. Using a precompiled library is absolutely out of the question. As for concatenating the output of a PRNG to get a larger number it is usually frowned upon unless the PRNG fulfills a few *very* strict criterion. For example: Concatenating two Mersenne Twister 32 bit numbers yields only an equivalent of 53 bits of entropy instead of the expected 64 bits. MvH Dan Andersson
