Junior 8 is also very weak in the opening after 1.e4.
Without book it plays the opening worse than a 1400 player would.
Actually Junior was very lucky in Kurts tournament so far.
Other top engines like Shredder,Fritz or Hiarcs know at least about some basic
opening principles.

Of course Junior is stronger in open positions. Therefore it scored somewhat
better in the positions after 1.e4 but the opening treatment was ridiculously
weak in any case.
